Overview
HomeFront Manual is the online store of Plainlight Press, a publisher of plain-English field manuals for American households: emergency preparedness, protection from online scams and kitchen-table money planning.
The site was written with Claude coding on Astro and deployed on Vercel. Every page is static and loads instantly, the interactive tools are written in small vanilla scripts, and checkout is handled by Gumroad with an instant PDF download.
Pages documentation

01 Home
The homepage introduces all three books at once, with two clear actions: see the three books or get the complete set. Small badges under the buttons answer the first questions: instant PDF download, easy to print and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

02 The books
Each book gets its own band with real pages from inside, a short story-driven headline, three key points, the price and a buy button.

03 How buying works
Three simple steps explain the purchase, followed by the publisher's promise: plain English, facts checked against official sources and a 30-day guarantee.

04 The Complete Library offer
The bundle page leads with the offer: all three manuals, 596 pages, with the regular price crossed out, the saving highlighted and one large checkout button.

05 What's in the library
A shelf of the three books, each with its color, subtitle, key points and numbers (pages, chapters and the length of the day plan), linking to the book's own page.

06 Every manual includes
Six features shared by every book, from the Start Here page and master checklists to printable worksheets and official sources.

07 Book page
Each book has a dark, atmospheric landing page. For The Home Front Manual, a night scene with a single lit house carries the promise: be the house with the lights on.

08 The first 72 hours
An interactive timeline of a long power outage. As the visitor scrolls, a dial counts the hours without power and shows when food in the fridge and freezer is still safe, next to what the manual says to do at each step.

09 The readiness house
A drawn cross-section of a home with numbered tags. Clicking a tag, such as the water main shutoff, explains it and points to the chapter and page in the manual.

10 Readiness check
Twelve quick yes, partly or no questions fill a gauge with a readiness score and point to the chapters that fix each weak spot. The answers stay in the browser and are never sent anywhere.

11 Spot the scam
On The Digital Front Door page, visitors judge eight realistic text messages as safe or scam, then see the red flags and the rule from the book that stops each one.
